To fulfill this objective, he acted as a child artist in about eight Hindi and Marathi films between 1942 and 1948. At the age of 13, he started singing for films. He sang his first song for the Marathi film 'Kiti Hasal' (Kitna Laughege), but the song was removed from the film.

Her first film as an actress was 'Pahili Mangalagore' (1942). Ghulam Haider discovered singing talent in this supernatural playback singer and brought Lata to Bombay Talkies. When Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan heard Lata singing, she called her 'the three-minute sorceress'.

When Lata ji started singing, Bollywood singers like Noor Jahan, Amirbai, Shamshad Begum and Rajkumari used to speak and almost all of them had mastered classical music. In such a situation, it was not an easy task for Lata to get her place as a playback singer, but on the strength of nature's melodious voice and her regular practice, Lata soon started tasting success.

In the year 1949, his song 'Aayega… Aane Wala Aayega', sung for the film 'Mahal' under the music direction of Khemchandra Prakash, made a splash and people became crazy about his melodious voice. The songs of the film 'Andaaz' released in the same year, for which he sang under the music direction of Naushad, and 'Barsaat', for which he sang under the music direction of Shankar-Jaikishan, also gave special recognition to his talent.

After this, she slowly started on the path of success as a playback singer and in no time became an established singer of Bollywood. The non-film patriotic song 'Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon' sung by him is one of his most famous and popular songs.

It is said that once when the then Prime Minister heard this song at a function, tears came out of his eyes and he praised him. In her longest singing career spanning the sixties, she lent her voice to heroines from the forties like Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Vyjayanthimala to the late 20th century heroines like Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor.

During his career he worked with eminent musicians like Madan Mohan, Naushad, Shankar-Jaikishan, Khayyam, SD Burman, RD Burman, Kalyanji-Anandji and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. He also sang many duets with great singers like Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore Kumar. In the year 1974, he made the 'Guinness Book of World Record' for singing the most number of songs in the world.

In 1974, at the Royal Erlbert in London, his voice was tested with the help of a computer and found to be the best in the world. Lata ji became the first Indian woman to perform in this hall. Later, in view of the musical sloppiness from 1980 onwards, he accepted to sing only for big banner films, prominent among them were Rajshri Productions, RK Pictures and Yash Raj Films.

From this year onwards, Lata ji concentrated more on stage shows. In view of his contribution to the music world, he has been honored with many awards so far. He received a total of six Filmfare Awards in the years 1958, 1962, 1965, 1969, 1993 and 1994.

She has been honored with National Awards for singing three times in the year 1972, 1975 and 1990. The Government of India decorated him with 'Padma Bhushan' in the year 1969. In the year 1984-85, the Government of Madhya Pradesh started giving 'Lata Mangeshkar Award' in her name.

He is currently the only person to have an award named after him while he is alive. In recognition of his contribution to Indian films, he was awarded the 'Dada Saheb Phalke Award' in the year 1989.

In view of his achievements, the Government of India honored him with the country's highest award 'Bharat Ratna' in the year 2001. Lata Mangeshkar has given the form of a book to the memoirs of her life, which is published in Marathi language under the name 'Phule Vechita' (Choose Flowers). This is his first book, which became a special book in the year 1997.

Lata ji has been the most popular personality of Bollywood and will continue to make people crazy about the songs sung by her. Till now she has seen 85 springs of her life, even at this age the sweetness in her voice is rare elsewhere.
